Now I say I am Celtic (Keltoi) word originated from the Greeks about a tribe in or around what is known as Germany today. They were a pretty peaceful people of hunter gatherers and their first trade was with salt to the Greeks. Their religion -- before 600 bc -- was based on ancestors and nature primarily the trees it seems. The Celtic or Keltoi people began to widen their tribe (in or around the bronze age) to encompass at one point in time all of Gaul (france) to Turkey... They became master craftsmen of mettles, were in a predominantly matriarchal society, lived in an oral society, they were a migratory people (like the Lakota) invented soap, were called barbarians (savages) by Roman rule, had no central authority, great roads, and really lived peaceful lives for the most part and at the beginning of the bronze age in Celtic Europe there are no war markings found on their knives and swords as they were used as dress or jewelry -- they did sack Rome in or around 300 bc led by a man named who was a Chieftain Brannan (Raven) because Rome had murdered three ambassadors that were sent there. When trade began and Roman influences began to trickle in their belief systems morphed a little but not too much and that wasn't to change much until around 50 bc.
Cesar Augustus had struck a deal with some of the Celtic Tribal Bands in Europe to always protect them. Does all this sound familiar? Anyway, Their were a band of Helvettii on lower Switzerland that were going to take their migratory journey to Gaul. They were a band of unarmed old men woman and children (by this time they had the written word and had a census with everyone making the trek on the list). On their way to Gaul they were massacred -- 200,000 of the Helvettii were killed and the other remaining 50,000 were enslaved to work for Rome as potters and miners and servants! After this Cesar wrote the history of the battle which was a lie and moved into Gaul were assimilated of the Celts brought down their natural religion and ways which were matriarchal...
What Wounded Knee was to the Lakotah people -- Helvettii may seem to be to the Celtic people.
Anyway, in the year 400 or right around there, Empire Constantine changed the state religion (which by then the Celts were under) from one of Paganism (People as Gods... Nero... Mercury etc...) into Christianity. Ever since then they have been hunting down the witches... and nonbelievers... inquisition.
By the time Columbus came to America Pope Urban... I believe that was his name said that any land that was not held as Christian was to be considered to be held by savages and the property of Rome and thus began the Roman destruction of the Indigenous People of what is now known as the Americas.
Really what we as European Descendents are looking for. The ones that have looked back because of the Natural Spirituality that they encounter today in America practiced by the American Indian -- they have looked back because they know something is not right. Somehow we were broken and used to conquer and pillage and steal all we could from the American Indian. Where did this come from? Living under the fear of patriarchal societies will do that crap to you and thank God my father had told me of my Indigenous roots here in America or I never would have inquired and thus would have never really of seen the Natural Spiritual way thus would have never truly recognized the insanity of patriarchal religions and society vs. a matriarchal society and religion that was practiced in the land above Italy before Rome conquered and assimilated the people into the culture of Rome.
Keep up the Good!
Enjoying it... making me think and relize now more then ever on how connected we are.
I relieze now more then ever that our push should not be for what ritual you are practicing... that will come and follow a greater push into a more matriarchal way of being human. Peace out!
